General Manager

We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven General Manager/Managing Director/Business Head to lead and expand our Shipping Division operations across multiple geographies. The role will be responsible for full P&L ownership, business growth, operational leadership, customer relationship management, and strategic expansion within the container liner and shipping agency sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead overall business operations and strategic growth initiatives for the Shipping Division across multiple offices and legal entities.
• Drive profitability, revenue growth, and operational excellence across all business functions.
• Own complete P&L management and financial performance.
• Develop and strengthen relationships with shipping lines, principals, port authorities, and key customers.
• Manage commercial activities including client acquisition, trade development, agency partnerships, and business development initiatives.
• Oversee vessel operations, port agency activities, documentation, customer service, and service delivery.
• Lead container, Roll-on/Roll-off (RoRo), and dry container shipping operations.
• Manage commercial, operational, and customer service functions across multiple business units and regions.
• Lead, mentor, and develop regional operational and commercial teams.
• Identify new market opportunities, strategic partnerships, and expansion initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with maritime regulations, corporate governance standards, and operational efficiency.
• Coordinate closely with regional and executive leadership teams.

Required Experience

• Minimum 15+ years of experience in Shipping Agencies or Container Liner Companies
• Mandatory experience handling full Business Unit / P&L responsibility.
• Proven experience managing multiple offices, regions, business units, or legal entities.
• Strong understanding of container liner business and shipping agency operations — mandatory.
• Master Mariner background is highly preferred, especially when combined with commercial or operational shore-based experience.
• Candidates from shipping lines or shipping agencies preferred.
• Strong leadership, stakeholder management, operational, and business development capabilities.

Pay: E£1.00 - E£3.00 per year
