Security Design QA/QC & Technical Assurance EngineerRole Overview

MUST HAVE DEMONSTRABLE EXPERIENCE IN TECHNICAL SECURITY SYSTEMS DESIGN INCLUDING CCTV, ACCESS CONTROL SYSTEMS (ACS), SECURITY INTEGRATION, AUTOCAD, AND BIM MODELLING.

The Security Design QA/QC & Technical Assurance Engineer is responsible for the independent technical review, quality assurance, and quality control of electronic security system designs, engineering deliverables, BIM models, drawings, programming matrices, integration documentation, and commissioning records throughout the project lifecycle.

This is a specialist security engineering role requiring extensive experience in complex electronic security systems rather than general ICT or IT engineering. The successful candidate will act as the technical authority for design quality, ensuring that all security solutions are fully coordinated, technically compliant, operationally effective, and aligned with project requirements and industry best practice.

A key responsibility of the role is the detailed review and validation of:

· Security design drawings

· AutoCAD and BIM deliverables

· CCTV system designs

· Access Control System (ACS) designs

· Security device schedules

· Security system schematics

· Points lists and I/O schedules

· Security system programming matrices

· Cause-and-effect matrices

· Security integration documentation

· Functional Design Specifications (FDS)

· Testing and commissioning documentation

· As-built records and handover packages

The successful candidate must have proven experience delivering or assuring security designs within highly complex and mission-critical environments, including:

· Data Centres

· Critical National Infrastructure (CNI)

· Utilities and Energy Facilities

· Airports and Transportation Infrastructure

· Government and Defence Facilities

· Large Commercial and Mixed-Use Developments

· Industrial and Manufacturing Facilities

The role will work closely with Security Design Engineers, Security Consultants, BIM Modellers, CAD Technicians, System Integrators, Commissioning Teams, and Clients to ensure all security systems are technically robust, coordinated, and fit for operational purpose.

Key ResponsibilitiesSecurity Design QA/QC & Technical Assurance

Conduct detailed technical reviews of security system design packages to verify compliance with project requirements, standards, and operational objectives.

Review and approve:

· Security drawings and layouts

· CCTV camera coverage designs

· Access control designs and door schedules

· Security BIM models

· Device schedules

· Cable schedules

· Equipment schedules

· Security system schematics

· Network architecture drawings

· Rack layouts

· Technical specifications

· Functional Design Specifications (FDS)

· Security system programming matrices

· Cause-and-effect matrices

· Integration strategies

· FAT/SAT documentation

· Commissioning procedures

· As-built documentation

Identify:

· Design errors

· Technical non-conformities

· Coordination conflicts

· System integration risks

· Operational gaps

· Standards compliance issues

Provide corrective actions and technical recommendations to ensure design quality and operational effectiveness.

Technical Review of Security Systems

Perform detailed technical assurance reviews of:

· Enterprise CCTV and Video Management Systems

· Access Control Systems (ACS)

· Perimeter Intrusion Detection Systems (PIDS)

· Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS)

· Intercom Systems

· Security Command and Control Systems

· PSIM Platforms

· Integrated Security Management Systems

Review security programming logic and system functionality to ensure compliance with operational requirements and approved security strategies.

Validate access control programming matrices, alarm handling logic, system integrations, and operational workflows.

BIM, CAD & Design Coordination

Review AutoCAD and BIM security designs to ensure:

· Design accuracy

· Clash-free coordination

· Device location compliance

· Installation feasibility

· Design consistency

Coordinate with:

· Architectural teams

· MEP disciplines

· ICT teams

· Civil engineers

· Security integrators

· Client technical teams

Ensure multidisciplinary design coordination across all project stages.

Data Centre & Critical Infrastructure Security Assurance

Provide technical assurance for security systems deployed within mission-critical environments.

Review designs against the unique operational requirements associated with:

· Data Centre security

· Critical National Infrastructure (CNI)

· Utility facilities

· Operational Technology (OT) environments

· High-security facilities

Validate resilience, redundancy, availability, and operational continuity requirements within security designs.

Review integration requirements between security systems and critical facility infrastructure.

Essential Experience

Candidates must demonstrate:

· Minimum 5 years’ experience in electronic security systems engineering, design review, QA/QC, or technical assurance.

· Extensive experience reviewing CCTV and Access Control System designs.

· Strong understanding of security system programming matrices and operational logic.

· Experience reviewing AutoCAD security drawings and BIM models.

· Experience validating security system integrations and commissioning documentation.

· Proven experience on large-scale Data Centre projects.

· Proven experience on Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) projects.

· Experience working with security consultants, system integrators, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.

· Strong understanding of enterprise-level integrated security systems.

Candidates without significant Data Centre, Critical Infrastructure, or complex security systems experience will not be considered.
