The management is a joke. They cannot keep anyone because they want to take advantage of the people who actually do the work. If you have kids who get sick often and would require you to miss work, you’re easily terminated. If you yourself have chronic health concerns that keep you out of work, you’re easily terminated. You get 8 points per calendar year and doctors notes do not excuse absences. The only thing that excuses you is Fmla which you have to work a full year to be eligible for. Overall it was a poor excuse of a work place for anyone who isn’t a completely healthy individual and doesn’t have young children.
Pros
Company’s store
Cons
Everything else

I enjoyed working for the company in 2012. Unilever was going through a super rough time with plant closures and huge layoffs when I was there. I was only working a 6 month contract thru Manpower. My boss there was super nice and tried to hire me on but no luck from corporate in Europe.Very professional despite turmoil and beautiful office in the North American HQ location
Pros
very friendly coworker and supportive staff
Cons
Temp contract ended after 7 months

The idea of working in an ice cream plant sounds great! And that's where the dream ends. The management has unrealistic goals for the production team. Firstly the training they give the new hires is a joke. After your training period they throw you to the wolves, sink or swim. They have such a turn over rate there. They hire 50 new employees a month and maybe retain 5?? The training on the equipment was terrible.
Pros
Free ice cream
Cons
Training, management, overtime, and training, i say training twice because in my opinion thats their biggest problem

Overall good pay starting at 19.44 with .40 shift differential, but 12 hour nights suck and the 2-2-3 schedule just wears you outManagement clearly hates their job and doesn't care about you.

Unilever is great place to work at the start of your career, loads of exposure across work functions and overall company purpose, mandates, guidelines. Sometimes bureaucratic, and work life balance completely depends on the line manager. Good options to move within company for a different role possible. But growth is very slow, pay scales lower then average industry and no special perks (like outings).
Pros
Good brands, overall exposure across functions and Independence
Cons
Stress on stakeholder management across different functions, Frequent restructuring / Change of guard

Difficult working in a 2 year plant closure process with a slipping timeline where you’re focused on keeping everyone safe and mitigating against product sabotage. It was a very special place to work when there was an ice cream HQ in Green Bay. After that was closed and our plant was in the process of closing, it was not fun.

Management sucks and is a revolving door of people, the ones that do stay are the ones you wish left. In recent years we've been micro managed to death with no lasting results from it, for example 1 production line has a Tech lead, Area lead(s), Shift Supervisor, 2 Business leads, Production Manager and Plant Manager to answer to. Communication between departments is insufficient. High turnover rate on nightshift, which you have to start on if hired. Only required to work half the year on a rotating schedule but the 12 hour shifts are still exhausting. Plenty of voluntary overtime available and they give a very generous incentive to work OT during Covid that is still going on. Starting pay is great. Overall the physical part of the job is nothing that could be called hard, although it can be stressful.
Pros
Pays well, schedule can be desirable.
Cons
Culture, management

This was honestly the most hostile environment I’ve ever worked in. People were generally just miserable, as was supervisors/management. Felt like high school, but worse. Maybe more like a detention centre. A typical day at work would be to clock in, report to my work station (whichever machine i operated). Some paperwork was required.
Pros
Free ice cream!!
Cons
Boring, unfulfilling

It pays well and it's easy to get into, but you constantly have issues in the workplace. Staff are greedy and lazy and we'll take breaks on you and not come back for hours sometimes. Management does nothing about this and only yells at the lines who's production is too low. No room for growth if you dont have at least a couple years or more there and if you do move up it's not enjoyable at all. Constant stress and inability to find time off properly without using vacation days. They care little about the employees quality of work experience. It wasnt the worst place I've worked but at the scale they're at and the resources they have they could do alot better to make it a better work environment.
Pros
Great pay and benefits.
Cons
Long hours, short breaks, stressful, and hostile environment.

It was an extremely easy and fast paced 3rd shift position. Some line leads were great while others were okay. There was never an issue with pay and there were incentives here and there (free products, dinner). I would have loved staying at this place but unfortunately I had to relocate.
Pros
Free product and dinner occasionally, weekly pay
Cons
Overtime isn't alway guaranteed on 3rd shift

This was a excellent opportunity to have gained experience working for this cooperate business.Managaged to gain a firm knowledge of the FMCG industry. The work culture treated the employees as being recognized and an important role to the business which gave me the eagerness to be in that environment enabling me to put my UT most efforts when performing daily duties.
Pros
Social events
Cons
Normal work week provided duties were carried out with time management
